I am applying to NUIG for Occupational Therapy, as my first choice and Nursing as my second. As OT is really high points, Nursing is my back up. But I heard that OT is really based around maths and was wondering does anyone know what the course is like and if they enjoy it?
Also I've heard Nursing is crazy hard work. Im not lazy or anything and would be willing to put effort in, but i've heard you dont have much of a social life compared to students doing Arts and stuff.
Any answers would be great! :)

I'm doing (psychiatric) nursing so I can only answer that part for you as I don't know anybody doing OT. It's not THAT much work. Like if you go to your lectures you should be grand. But you do have to go to your lectures. And obviously all your placements (have a look at the pay cuts - your year won't get paid in 4th year for your internship) then it's grand. Bit of cramming is required - just off placement and am straight in the library trying to study for exams (and go on boards apparently..). But yeah.. it's a really nice course, well.. I think so anyways, And you have a lot of options when your done, you don't have to stick to nursing in wards, you can do your public health/community, lecture, counselling(psych) ect!
    EDIT*
Social side of it. Social life is fine for the most part! obviously when your on placement you can't be at as much because everybody is doing different hours on the wards so a night out is pretty difficult to organise, but if you have friends outside of nursing your flying! Your only doing 3 days a week so you still have 4 nights in the week where you can go out =) Although you only get one proper RAG week, from second year on your on placement Feb/March, but again you still get a night or two out =)
