New wheel or bike ?

    Hey Guys,

Have a mountain bike that I use for my daily commute around Galway. Just today, the back wheel bearing went on me so its unusable.

This is the second time this has happened. The first time it happened, I got the wheel replaced as I was told it was the only fix and the bearling alone couldn't be replaced. Now after a few months again, its broken again.

Is it worth changing the wheel again or just getting a new bike ?

I can only think of two reasons the bearing keeps colllapsing,

    i) Permanent damage from the first time it was broken.
ii) The constant battering the back wheel gets due to kerbs around city etc.

    Yeah,

Popping up on kerbs and ones back wheel gets most of the hit, assuming you dont have the speed for a good bunny hop.

I believe Lumens' point was that you aren't meant to be on the footpaths to begin with not that he doesn't know that a kerb is.

That aside I really can't imagine what kind of damage you would be able to do to the frame that would affect a new back wheel. Most I can think of is if your back suspension is shot (assuming you have one) which would normally absorb a small amount of the shock. TBH I'd say you would need a pretty expensive back wheel to survive hitting kerbs with any force at all every day.

    LOL

Ah okay, assumption on my half. The only time I've ever seen that name used was on Dexter for a female character.
