Can you check how many cars of a certain year are still on the road?

    Hi all,

Just wondering if there's any way that info like the above can be researched? I've seen info in the paper from the Central Statistics Office saying for example x many cars registered before 2000 are still on the road. If that info can be collected, there must be a list of the breakdown by year.

Does anyone have any advice on this?

If I understand what you're looking for, it's a breakdown of the cars taxed in the current year or at some recent point in time broken down by the year the car was manufactured. I take it that by 'on the road' you mean currently taxed.

There is a CSO publication here from 2008 and although it has tons of stats. on registrations, it doesn't seem to have what you're looking for, see the link on the right 'Transport 2008', it's a 15MB PDF file.
