Bohs v Rovers RTE 2 Friday 15th 19.35

Its the big one. Irelands biggest sporting rivalry has a whole new dynamic since Bohs finacial implosion and the balance has swung firmly south of the Liffey.

Rovers are odds on to be without Gary Twigg, meaning that MON will probably stick with the 433 that destroyed Sligo in the Setanta Cup.

Rovers have been restricted to 1,000 tickets for the Shed end, which of course re opens the debate as to whether Dalymount should be allowed host games of this magnitude.

Poll added - how many goals will Rovers win by.

I thought these 2 were not allowed play at reasonable times due to the fact that neither set of fans want to behave themselves?

Don't confuse a white hot rivalry with fans misbehaving. Not my fault no-one cares about Cork anymore.

The local Gardaí would play this at noon on a Tuesday if they could, but TV gets to decide.

Just for your arrogance I hope Bohs win about 10 nil.

0 - 0 with a healthy amount of cards shown - at least it'll be better than the last televised LOI match although I won't see it as i'll be in Inchicore

LOL  I wonder how many arrests and damage will be caused by the "white hot rivalry"?

Why even bring up CCFC? Obsessed

Jaysis, don't put a hex on us... :)

@Gimmick. Neither clubs will ever be Cork {insert current club entity} but we just try and muddle along nonetheless.

Please can we have a match thread without the usual fucken shite and arguments about fights and whatnot?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

^ Again, what do CCFC have to do with anything here? The only people mentioning them are Shams fans.

If the last 5 years are anything to go by, none.

Any opinions on the game, or are we going to have to listen to fans of the irrelevent clubs, like yours and Shels, bring up nonsense about trouble that hasn't happened in years?

    :D

    Already on the defensive.

WTF did you expect would happen when you put up a "preview" like you did in the opening post?

Nothing - seeing as they don't exist anymore.

I'd love to win over in D7 but these games...Bayley to get sent off though. :pac:

Not on the Connaught which is also great.

It was just a bit of fun.

Let's not turn the thread into another hooly-discussion war for the laughs of the barstoolers.

An unprovoked attack on Shels now?

Who do I have a season ticket for so, or have I imagined being at games for the last while?

    Shams fans, what a shower.

Enjoy kicking someones teeth out Friday.

To be fair, ONYD brings it on, almost encourages it!

Really can't wait for this, after Monday night I'm feeling confident but usual derby clichés, form out the window etc. Friday can't come quick enough, a thousand off us in the shed, bring it on!

    Don't think Flynner is playing.

I hope the real fans haven't battered their TV's too much so they can catch a glimpse of this.

ah comon gav both them incidents were a good bit away from grounds and the ''gang fight'' in town last year happened after a Linfield game nothing to do with the game not excusing it but noting to do with the majority of fans.
There hasnt been trouble inside the ground in almost 10 years at this derby.

anyway regarding the football....il miss the game but be interesting to see how bohs approach the game....a respectable 1-1 draw;)

    First page of the thread.

Are LOI threads purely about football actually possible on this forum at this stage?

If Bohs win, they go ahead of Rovers. ONYD won't be seen or heard from for months if that happens!

Looking at the two squads, Rovers should walk it, but probably won't be the case.

On another note, Rovers being limited to 1000 and being let into the Des Kelly will do wonders for the atmosphere of this derby.

    Is Twigg out?

Have a good feeling about this game.

    Bohs to win 1-0!

Hopefully its not gonna be as big a pain in the arse as it usually is getting to Tolka on Friday. What bus would Rovers fans get from the City Centre if they were going to Dalymount. I dont want to be sharing public transport with riff raff.

Why is it being limited? surely Bohs need as much money as possible?

    Yeah.

Would be happy with the line up we played on Tuesday though. Still some very good options up front.

The Northside is the Northside: no matter what part. You should be used to it by now.

Well, Bohs ain't limiting it, but afaik the Connaught Street stand can't be used any more. Could be wrong though

Rovers scoring a goal for the first time in two years at Dalymount would be a start...

Dalymount, Cork and Derry are always tough games for Rovers, no matter how good or bad both sides are.

    .

Think Doyler got the last one there in the last season in Tolka but we got beaten 2-1 IIRC?

Yeah, 2-1..I can't remember who the scorer was or even the goal, but 2008 pretty sure. Killian Brennan scored a free-kick and it was on telly..
