Dreamweaver 2004 MX

    Hi All,
Any ideas where I might get a "legal" copy of the above. I've called Adobe and have been told that they don't do back copies of s/w.

Would you know of any resellers out there with a copy in a stock room somewhere?

Failing the above have you any suggestions for v-good alternatives, not Dreamweaver CS5, that might have same/similar functionality.

    Many thanks
    AQ

Aptana Studio perhaps? You haven't said what functionality of it you're looking for.

The one place that occurred to me has had them pulled "due to current legal negotiations"

The ability to build headers, footers and various other pages independently would be great. The other built-in functionality would also be a bonus. At the moment I have to build my headers/footers into every page. It's a pain in the neck when I have to add/remove or change any details.

Any of the other Dreamweaver type functionality would also be a bonus.

I'll give the Aptana a run.

    Thanks again.

CS5 does all of that, do you just want 2004 because it's cheaper?

Well CS5 it is a bit on the pricey side, but no that's not the reason. A few colleagues and myself have just completed a Dreamweaver course and the training co's machines had DM 2004 MX loaded. We down loaded the CS5 version but our notes don't match and we don't want the hassle of plodding thu CS5 since we're all upto speed(ish) in 2004.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

    Have a good weekend!

Leave it with me but I may have an old CD with the trial version on it. I'll check tonight.
    Where are you based?

    That would be great!

I'm based in Cork, but will be in Dublin on Wed even/Thur morning next and Cavan on Friday. If you manage to find your disk I could meet you somewhere on-route.

    Very much appreciated.

    Have a good weekend.

Sorry - I must have thrown out all of my old mag CDs (but have no memory of doing so).
The only thing I could find is a copy of DW 4 Ultradev which is simpler in many ways from MX.
Its yours if you want it but may not meet your needs.

Although this doesn't directly answer your question, I hope it might be of some help regardless. You should look into some simple PHP code rather than copying and pasting the same code all the time. It saves time and server space.

Basically, you could either "include" the header + footer dynamically at the top of each page, or you could write a skeleton for a page and include the content based on which page the user is currently meant to be viewing.

Here is a tutorial that would be worth a look to further explain it:

    Hope this helps! :)

Thanks KB for the offer. I'll have a chat with the IT guy from the training co and see if they have an unused licence in a drawer somewhere.

You learn something new everyday. I'll have a look at that.
