Is there a Possibility of being able to apply for a transfer from the Public Service to the Civil Service and being able to keep the current Grade Pay or is it restricted ?
    I think you're in luck :)

Up until now there was no transfer..............but with the Croke Park deal redeployment between various sectors of the PS is to be allowed/ enforced as a way to combat the recruitment ban and possible voluntary redundancies...

No details as such yet but keep your eyes open for whats happening..

What area of the PS are you in?

At present you cannot transfer between the civil and public service. This is because of the grade and pay structure, public servants are paid more than civil servants, they also work on a different grade structure. However the current croke park deal is trying to break down this wall for redeployment purposes. Hence the talk of annual leave and pay sclaes in the media recently. It is highly unlikely however that you will be redeployed unless you work in area where you are deemed surplus to requirements as this will be the only reason for redeployment.
