he might get a result favorable to him
how would one get such a good barrister??????
    i know they all good
but a barrister who will swagger in the country courtroom like a gun slinger
put the garda in the dock rip his evidence and him to shreds

get the client off scot free

    collect his cheque
and ride off into the sunset/ or dublin 4

is it possible to find such a man/ woman
without having to depend on the potluck guy your solicitor picks......

of course the decision is entirely up to you and yes the barristers you speak of do exist(it might be worth your time going into the drink driving court and see if you spot one that impresses you) but a word of warning, if you fight the case and the judge convicts you expect a substantial increase in the fine you receive as a penalty for more or less wasting court time, you can be fined up to €5000, although for a reading just over the limit and first offence it would be more like €1500 or so, if you plead guilty it would probably be maybe 3-400, this is obviously all dependant on the particular judge

You can't directly hire a barrister but you can request your solicitor briefs a certain barrister and he should do it for you. As has been suggested, go down and see some of them in action. If one impresses you, approach them (outside the court preferably!) and ask for their name. Give the name to your solicitor and that's that.

You can have a barrister who gets you off.

Or you can have a barrister who swaggers into court like a gunslinger.

It's almost impossible to have both.

the dublin court is in the old richmond hospital in the city center, all the hearings are held in the one court, dont know about the country, cant see why cash would be a problem

You pay the solicitor and then he will pay the barrister. Even if you settle up with the solicitor imediately the barrister might not get his fee for months.

Why would there be a problem with paying cash ? Cash is money correct ? Money is what you pay for things with ?

Of course you'll be given a VAT receipt.

dont want to sound a miserable hoor
but does the wigged boy get paid by the case , the day , or on the clock,
and is there a varience in price
that is every one has different fee of rate?
what happens if he/ she loses .
does any of them work on a no foal no fee basis

they usually get paid by the day and any established barrister, which is what your looking for i believe, will want their readies no matter what the result

In drink driving, absolutely not. It's a criminal prosecution so the possibility of having the costs paid by the other side are, in the absence of some kind of malicious prosecution or unless it's a private prosecution, nil.

You need to find a hungry, young barrister Jack.... you can pay him in potatoes (or cash, whatever's handy!)
