I am trying to use an Eircom Huawei 180 dongle with a TP-Link MR3420 3G router
I have the router set to the Eircom APN and dial no *99#. The router sees the dongle, I can see the signal strength from the dongle and can connect via the dongle using my laptop so I know the IP addresses are correct. But when I try to use the eircom program on my laptop to connect to the internet via the router I get the message that there in no dongle found why is this

If the dongle is in the router and not directly in the computer why are you using the Eircom software on your computer?

Edit> the point is the router is making the connection with its own built in software so you don't even need the software installed on the computer. You just connect to the router and the router does the rest, maybe theres a connect now button on the web interface of the router you need to click?

Because it's not connected to the computer any more. You don't need to use any software when connecting through the router. If the modem is connected to the Internet, and the computer is connected to the router, then you're online already.

I am now able to connect to the web with my laptop, but still having problems getting my sat box to connect. My laptop shows two IP addresses one for the router and one for the dongle, which of these do I set my sat box to.
