well done! Cost of living can be quite high, so be careful before you jump in. In particular rent is outrageous, but I think the employer must contribute towards it. An average one bed apartment in an ok area might cost you €14,000 per annum! that said, your wages are tax free.

I've been to the Irish Village a few times and thought it was a lovely place. It's a great place to go for food when you've been living in the Middle East and deprived of pork for a long time! It's a big place, out near the airport, with both indoor and outdoor areas to sit in. There's lots of Oirish stuff around the place, telephone boxes, post boxes etc. And they do Irish stew, bangers and mash etc. It's a nice, chilled-out spot to relax in, and Dubai rocks! Good luck with the interview :)

My brother lived there for a time - he described it over-priced and pretty tacky , it has suffered hugely in the down turn because like here it was very dependent on overpriced construction.
You will need to be sure your wages will cover your cost of living.

I am beign set up in a shared accomodation, and i am paid a small but realistic salary, I Belive it is good as it brings me to to Dubai for free, return tickets, private medical insurance, ect.

What is the cost of food and drink over there

Less than €700 a month is not a good salary imo (assume i applied for same job) i wont be doing any interview if thats the sort of money.

I've been there a few times (before and after the boom). Personally I hate the place but thats just me. It's very expensive to live well there. The traffic is apalling and its totaly cultureless. Think upmarket Shannon Town Centre with 40 degree heat....

My brother said exactly the same - he thought it was an over-rated sh1thole !

I love Dubai and the Irish Village - have been several times but only for weekends. Not sure if I would like to live there. Over rated definitely, traffic is appalling and its very impersonal.
