    Hey folks,

Just wondering if anyone here has any advice on how to get a stuck window back up? They are electric windows and it seems the motor and regulator are possibly gone.

i have read some stuff on removing the window fuse and replacing in a system to inch the window up each time you start the car - repeat until window up fully.

Does anyone know this method or have any advice?

    Any help much appreciated.

    Tom

    Ok, problem solved! :D

I just took out both 25 Fuses from the panel and put them back in and it worked fine. (Just incase anyone else has the same problem)

    Cheers though!

just wondering if you saw the Consumer show last Tuesday on rte1? they were discussing electric window faults on Renaults!! They will be doing a follow up next Tuesday night, 8.30pm. I have a Renault megane & have probs with my electric windows since I bought it. At present, the front passenger window won't go down, regulator gone & quoted at least €350 to repair!

I'm blue in the face replacing regulators on Renaults, and the alliance between renault and Nissan is obvious as numerous Nissan are having window reg trouble now too:rolleyes:

it will just be a loose connection with the button
on the right hand side of the dsah on the wiper stalk there should be a button, hold it in for 30 seconds and that should do it, if not you'll have to hook it up to a diag machine

    Right try this so

Have a look at your speedo and you will see a little black stalk sticking out at the bottom towards the right.

Make sure you can see the 'spanner icon' or 'change oil soon' warning message by pressing the selector button on the end of the wiper stalk.

Press and hold the black stalk on the speedo. It might take a bit of pressure to depress it (mine did) but if you keep holding you will first see the warning message begin to flash then (keep holding) it will reset getting rid of the 'change oil soon' message and flashing spanner and also resetting the interval in the 'service required in...' message.

Hi peeps. Rather than start yet another Renault window thread I thought I would rather post it here.

I have a problem with my renault megane passenger electric window. A search of the internet shows that Renault megane windows are notorious for electrical issues. My problem isn't the usual window not opening or closing problem.

The passenger side window works perfectly when operated from the passenger door buttons.
    But,
When operated from the drivers side door buttons I can only get the window to go down. It will not go back up again using the drivers side buttons. I have to raise the window again using the passenger side buttons. I removed the buttons from the drivers side door and tinkered with them but problem persists. I also swaped the buttons on the drivers side door but the problem was still there.

Any ideas on how to repair this?

The car is a 2003 Renault Megane 3 door (1.4 ltr).

when this electric window fault was broadcast on the Consumer show a couple of weeks ago, it was found that it is very common. Renault's response was to contact your local Renault dealership, and that you may be entitled to a repair under their goodwill policy. I didn't think I'd have much luck, seeing as I didn't buy my Megane from the Renault dealership, nor was I ever a customer. However, I did contact them, Adams in Tralee, and they couldn't have been nicer! They have said they will repair the window free of charge :) I am just waiting on the parts to come in, so looking forward to having it fixed now :)
I would suggest you do the same, tell them you heard about it being a common problem with Renaults and is there anything they can do to help.

the problem in this thread is not the regulator issue :)

    I appreciate any help peeps.

    Just an update;
Now when I press the button for the passenger side window on the drivers door up or down the window goes down for both.

The NCT on the car is overdue and I'm sure when I take it for the test, the tester will sit in the drivers seat and test both windows so I have to get this sorted.

Any ideas would be welcome. No ways I'm going to the dealer.
