So i have my test tomorrow morning and I'm actually starting to feel a bit sick in my stomach.
I'm not normally a nervous person but this has me shook up for some reason. I have a pre test first thing then my test at 11.00.
Any tips for staying calm would be appreciated.

    Wish me luck.

Taking deep breaths and rescue remedy (although not TOO much rescue remedy!).

Just think it as you're giving someone a lift and they're directing you to\from a place.

    Best of luck!

Best of luck. Don't worry, everybody gets nervous about a driving test!

Having the pre-test before should calm you down.

Imagine the tester is a Satnav, not a tester, and he/she is simply telling you where to go! Drive like you normally drive (if the tester wasn't there) - don't be over-cautious just because it's your test (Don't think something like "the limit is 60km/h but I'll only go around 55km/h in case he thinks I'm going too fast at 60km/h" or don't wait for a huge gap turning right just to be "extra safe" if there is a gap that you would normally take).

My mother bought me rescue remedy before my test (I didn't ask her to). I found it pretty useless, although it came in a sweet form and did taste nice. Maybe it's just a placebo, you think it makes you less nervous so you feel less nervous. ??

    Just back from my test.

I wasn't allowed to take the test as there was a warning light on my console. What gets me is that the NCT passed the car with the light, i even brought it to their attention and they said it was no problem.
My driving instructor from ISM said it was no problem. But as soon as the tester saw it he said shut off the engine we are not doing the test.

    Gutted!

But at the end of the day it was my own fault i guess. It does say it in the pre test check list.

    Gutted!

    hugs :(

I know what thats like. Don't worry though :) all part of the learning curve of actually taking the test.

I took the test 5 times because I got so nervous. Passed the pre-test each time but when I got in to the car I choked.

Another tip that I would give for the next time ( i'm not sure if it is mentioned )
Is have your window slightly open. this helps keeps the car cool and can be a bit soothing. worked for me.

Good Luck for the next time :)

    Hi

I know what it's like, I don't respond well to test situations either. Had a lesson before my test and something my instructor said put me right at ease.

" you've done the preparation, you know your stuff, so drive as you normally would, and using the fine tuning from your pretest lessons you'll be fine"

All the best with it and let us know how you get on:)
