I’ve had a glancing look over the forum threads and did not see a thread for “instrumental” music people like. It is possible I have missed it apologies if I have maybe this thread could be merged with it if one already exists:).....

It would be nice to hear what other people like & listen too…

Instrumental music covers all types of genre’s Rock, Jazz, Blues, Classical, Ambient whatever you are into some of the best music ever created is all about the music. For the sake of the thread an “instrumental” is a piece of music without lyrics or singing but short vocal input/harmonizing is ok if it is part of an extended piece….

Like the videos a fitting tribute indeed:) Shadows are an outstanding band have you ever seen them live?.. They are as good on stage as they are in the studio always the sign of a quality band. My second favourite Shadows's tune behind Apache but I like all their stuff:D...

Regrettably no and it's not like they haven't being touring around these isles last few years either ,their shows are always sellouts to .

Interestingly I was watching a 3 hr documentary on bbc 4 a few weeks ago about the history of the guitar right from the early days and a lot of the guitar legends like Clapton , Townshend , Knopfler , Gilmore etc all stated that Hank Marvin was a big influence in them taken up the guitar .

John Williams movie scores are always quality hes a bit of a legend all the catchy stuff like Star Wars, Jaws, ET the list goes on:)

And so I watch you from afar have some amazing stuff, best N.I band ive heard in a while and one of the best live bands ive ever seen. Their first full length albums excellent and their new album, out at the start of May is hotly tipped to be a stunner, theres free downloads of the single out at the mo.. Mogwai have some good music out too, and Rodrigo y Gabriela are another fave of mine..

You’re welcome:) I’m the same I’ve never seen them live was going to ask you what they were like on stage:D Someone else told me about documentary alright but I’ve never seen it myself would well believe it though. Marvin was a pioneer wasn’t he first man to import and play a Strat in Britain. All the great players that followed he blazed the trail for them. Amazing guitarist...

Have to say enjoyed the music in JFK out of all the film music composers I think Williams is my favorite but I think Hans Zimmer and John Murphy are brilliant aswell....

This wouldn’t be that widely known a little gem from Gilmour’s first solo album I think its as good as anything he did with the Floyd except maybe Comfortably numb which is in a league of its own…

He was indeed and apparently Ciliff Richard claims to have bought it for him and I think it's now in the posession of Bruch Welch who claims Hank lent it to him ....:D The Shadows were pretty good vocalists to as well as great guitarists and and some of their later albums like Specs Appeal and Tasty have some geat songs on them .

I posted this video in another music thread two weeks ago after hearing of the death of Jet Harris who was the origianl bass player with the Shads and he and Tony Meehan ( original drummer to ) had several chart hits with Scarlet O Hara , Appalejack and Diamonds ( below )

Yes he's my fav to and I'll check out the other two .Another one I like is this from Mark Shaiman ,theme from The American President .

Considered by many to be the best Orchestral/instrumental of them all .
