Bottle rejection

    Hi All

    Looking for a few suggestion;

    We have a beautiful 31/2 month old daughter. Generally things are going along well at the moment thankfully.

    Out of the blue the week before last she started to reject the bottle. Now she is primarily breast fed but we tried to keep her in touch with the bottle maybe once a week over the last few months. Up to this she had taken to the bottle no problems at all. However since the week before last she get hysterical anytime the bottle is brought near her. We have tried several things, new nipples, warmed/cooler milk, fresh milk/ defrosted milk and nothing seems to work. We have had limited success by taking her off the breast during a fed and introducing a bottle, but this has been limited success.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Regards

    KYman12

    Maybe your wife could try using nipple sheilds? That way your little lady might get used to the texture of teats and a take a bottle a little easier.

    Yay im no the only one,

    My lady did that, and she also got nipple confusion, She would not take the bottle (not even with breast milk in it) i had no one at home with me and couldnt put up with her crying for the breast so i gave it to her. when she did take the bottle spit the milk back out and and pull a face like she didnt like it. When she developed nipple confusion she had a hard time latching on,it was a bit of a nightmare really.

    If you want her of the breast full time, kick mommy out of the house for the weekend (send her to a hotel spa or something) and for daddy to say home for the weekend on his own giving baby the bottle, she will have no choice but to take it, she knows that if mommy is there she can have something nicer (and will cry adn cry and cry for it).

    That would best work if she was 5+ months. The only way to get her of the breast is cold turkey, if mommy is anything like me she will give in to her baby crying for her, its the worst sound a mother to hear is a baby crying for her.

    Thanks for the feedback guys.

    We talked about nipple shields in the past but didnt wat to go with them incase it lead to nipple confusiotn.

    Thankfully we have no issues with nipple confusion, she can well see the differance between no problem she just wont accept the bottle!

    The thing that gets me is that she was happy out to take the bottle from time to time up to two weeks ago and out of the blue she is not completly rejecting it. We have only every used brest milk in the bottle.

    Thanks again

    I breast feed and my little one did the exact same thing at the same age check your babies mouth my little one had oral thrush which are little blisters in their mouth this made him stop bottle feeding and only breast feed
    if you see them bring baba to the doctor and you'll get a prescription for some gel which will clear it up in no time
