Has anyone used a premium text company, and if so what are the pro's and cons of these premium text number companys.

I am setting up a business and I will need a "short code" number for my clients text.

Has anyone had experience with any of these companys.

    Thanks.

    Hi ES,

Not totally sure what you need it for, so my suggestion may not be suitable, but you can contact a company called Abbey Crest Traders (based in Limerick 061 450860) who can send texts on your behalf for a fee and a small cost per text. Or for a one off fee for the software, you install on your PC and they buy texts in bulk, and they will come from you, or whatever 10 or 11 digit name that you decide to use.

If its definitely a premium number you want, then I think it's phonovation in Dun Laoghaire that you want - the ones that RTE etc use on the Late Late competitions and voting etc. Think they also do bulk texts.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for that. Have you used Phonovation ? Does anyone know what the benefits of going through Phonovation as opposed going directly with Eircom are ??
    any opinions would be appreciated.

I am looking at the services of Phonovation as I want to encourage customer to use the website and discourage them from phoning (a common issue I would say for online businesses). I am a bit put off by Phonovation set up fee of 200 euro and their 50 euro a month fee plus keeping over 50% of the phone fee. Is there any competitors to Phonovation in this market ?

I found http://www.esendex.ie/ to be very good for in-bound messaging.

If you are developing a custom app yourself that integrates with SMS, you can integrate with one or more gateway providers to give yourself dynamic access to better messaging rates depending on the use case. For example, Esendex were good for in-bound, and Clickatell are good for out-bound in my experience.

It depends on what you're doing, but there are ways to get great rates on SMS messaging in many situations.
