Both are different class of vehicles. If your comparing Toyota to Nissan it would be the Rav4 which would be the Quashquis opposite number.

Wow, normally when people are asking for comparisons on cars they're similar:confused:

Avensis is a great car thats a fact. Not too sure about the Quashqai but any time I've worked on them there's never a lot wrong with them.

I considered buying one of these a couple of years back.
Wanted the Quashqai because it looked good and the high driving position.
But it's not an off-roader , most Quashqai's are 2 wheel drive and it's no more practical than a normal hatchback like a Ford Focus or Toyota Corolla.....your paying extra just for the look of it.

If I spent most of my time town driving , I would have bought the Quashqai.....but most of my driving is on motorway so I needed a bigger more comfortable car.....so I decided on the Avensis........and bought a Skoda Superb instead.

It does depend on the driving you do and what your needs are. OH has a Qashqui, lovely to drive, nice high position, 1.6 petrol is quick enough for this type of car. But with 3 young kids it is not big enough. But the boot is bigger than say a Focus / Almera hatchback.

I have a Mondeo, new shape, better for Motorway driving, more room and being a diesel, I get better MPG.

So if you are doing a lot of city driving, I would go for the Qashaui, but get the 1.5d, other wise go for the Avensis.

I'd take a bottle of whiskey and a revolver.

Diesels aren't a good option if the OP is doing all town driving, that said it doesn't matter which diesel is chosen, they're all like that these days because of bloody DPFs:(!
