Suncream and Stinging Eyes

So summer is slowly but surely on the way and it's nearly time to start putting the suncream back on.

My problem is i wear contacts on the bike and while i'm out i'm sweating which usually works it's way into my eyes, usually this doesn't cause any problem but when i put suncream on it stings like hell, got so bad last yr i stopped putting suncream on my face/head.

So does anyone know of any suncream that doesn't sting the hell outta your eyes or has anyone have a similar problem or maybe can recommend some type of cream that's more kind to the eyes ?

    Thanks in advance

I'm not much of a sunblock user, but if/when I do, I make sure to use a bandana or sweatband (to keep sweat/sunblock out of my eyes). I've never found any better or worse cream when it comes to this problem.

Wear a cap under your helmet? Means you could probably forgo having to put any on your forehead as it would be shaded.

Small rub of vaseline over your eyebrows and down past your eye on each side guides the sweat away from your lamps..... ;)

does the vaseline not make sunburn worse?

Some brands sting my eyes, but Garnier Ambre Solaire and the Marks and Spencer sunblock both are ok for me.

I don't put any on my forehead, because I wear a sun hat when cycling in the sun (wouldn't work if you wear a helmet), and I also wear prescription sunglasses, which maybe would work better for you than the contacts?

For cycling and work I would always use Banana Boat Sport. It's an alcohol based spray but is rub free so dries in really quickly and is sweat and water resistant.

Boots often have it on a 2 for 1 deal.

During the summer i prefer to just wear the helmet without the cap or bandana, find that if i wear a cap during the summer the dripping sweat off the peak of it gets very annoying ! Call me paranoid but think i look too much of a fred with a sweatband under my helmet :o

Good idea but i'd be a bit weary of the sunburn aspect with using vaseline during the summer.

Tried just wearing my glasses out before but again had the stinging when the suncream/sweat went into my eyes. If the boots stuff doesn't work i'll try the Marks and Sparks sunblock, think i was using the Garnier stuff last yr with the same stingy results.

This sounds like a good idea will have to check it out in boots next time i'm in.

I find suncream unnecessary on the forehead even just with a plain helmet, without any cap.

try putting it on the eyebrows themselves, should do the trick

For water sports i use Amber Solaire kids. I doest run and is immediately effective.

Should work the same for sweaty brow.

I used to do this when i played football and find it works just as well on the bike.

You don't use it instead of sunblock, only a small bit across your eyebrows, it blocks the sweat rolling down into eyes. Very effective.

Yes but i find with my ever decreasing hair line the top of my head gets a bit burnt when i'm out for a few hrs so need something up there.........hmmm maybe a wig would do the job ?

Ok thanks for this will definitely try this next time i'm out even just to keep the sweat out of my eyes. I was thinking i'd be going around with blobs of it on my eyebrows.

Was thinking maybe there's some kids suncream that'd work, now i've another one for my list to try.

    Thanks very much everyone.
