Glass balustrade

At the end of our build now & am having difficulty getting a toughened glass balustrade for my stairs, - well having difficulty finding the one I want that is,

Stairs drops thru 3.0m & has two 45deg turns on it; it’s centrally supported on a 150mm x 100mm steel beam, solid ash threads & risers (40mm thk)

There will be a newel post at the top & bottom landing, but no support for balustrade other than that - I want to fix the glass directly into the end grain of the threads / risers, there will be a handrail on top of the glass.

I have plenty of pictures but don’t know how to load them up, if anyone wants to see drop me a pm & ill can email it,

Basically I am looking to a supplier who will take my templates, suggest a fixing method, clamps / bolts etc, manufacture the glass & supply the fittings, so looking for recommendations,

    Thanks,

    Liam

Have a look at this post by JuniorB particularly the photos in his blog.

Maybe send him a PM to see where he got the glass :)

Hey Liam1, Our supplier is listed on the side of the blog. Your best bet is to contact them initially and see can it be done.

I'm far from an expert on it, but sounds like you might have some grief with the 'fixings' - can't see the side of the threads/risers being solid enough for it. Then again if the length is not too long you may be ok.

All our design/fixings/ideas etc were done in discussion with our AT and Structural Engineer and not necessarily with/by the glass supplier.
We fixed ours to a concrete stairs. Then covered in MDF and Oak threads and risers. My better half knew what she wanted and we worked a design around that. It's mad that most of the photos we looked at were actually done a different way than you'd think and covered up etc to look another way!

Best of luck anyway, drop me a PM if you have any more queries.
