I have had a few lessons with NFC and i find them pretty good and ive heard good things about skytrace.

But Before you book flightwise, read this thread i made a few weeks ago. http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=71157800 Take what you want from it but from my experience from dealing with them, that company are a bunch of cowboys and i wouldnt go near them!

Can I suggest bringing a pair of sunglasses with you, they're badly needed especially on a sunny day.

Anyone know about flying lessons around Cork?

Its a gift for someone. Fixed wing or heli will do.

Helicopter is extremely expensive. I think Atlantic are based in Cork airport so check them out.

Can defo recommend Flight-Wise, was given a 2 hour lesson as a present. Was super crack, one word of warning, they will only bring you up in the plane if the weather is good enough. My flight was postponed a few times due to unsuitable weather but amazing stuff when it got off the ground ;)

I would highly reccomend Usher Aviation http://www.uai.ie/usher-aviation-news/usher-aviation-and-newcastle-airfield/

Newcastle airfield is a great spot to, very near you and its where its all happening these days

Its a good airfield for you to make contacts aswell plus alot of planes there too that you can rent for MUCH cheaper rates than in weston.

I rent a plane out of newcastle that is €100 an hour where as if I went to weston it would cost me €175 to rent the same plane!

Great instruction, great contacts and its always good to start at Grass Roots.

Get in touch with Usher Aviation mate

I'd second that, Newcastle Airfield has a proper flying club atmosphere and everyone is really friendly. It's really close to Dublin and in a great location, the runway is parallel to the railway line and on the other side is the sea!!

    Bring your camera :)

I'll sound a note of caution : be cautious about making any advance or upfront payments to any flying school . Should a school collapse anyone who has paid in advance will become an unsecured creditor with nil chance of getting their money back.
That is not to say I have any knowledge of a specific school in financial difficulties.

Best way around that is to pay by credit card, obligation is on credit card company to refund you if school messes about. Saying that though I doubt you'll have any issues over here.
