I'm hesitating to post this here becuase I'm afraid it might be the wrong forum, so apologies if so!
Basically I need to get hepatitis b vaccine and I'm trying to work out what exactly is the difference between the slow track and fast track?
My GP has booked me in for the slow track but I wanted to try find out some info about them before I call back to query this.

There's a couple of vaccines, which are given as a series of boosters. Slow takes place over a number of months and is often regarded as giving a better response, whereas fast is over a number of weeks and is used where a quicker vaccination is needed. If time isn't an issue, the longer vaccine programme is the way to go.

Thanks for your quick reply! I was confused because a friend of mine told me that her doctor made her get the fast track because it was better than the slow track but maybe she got confused between them.

Time is not exactly an issue as such, allthough I am supposed to be immune by September. Can you just clear one more thing up for me. Will I be immune after the second one, and is the third one to make it last longer? (someone else told me this!)
Or really do I need to wait until I have had my third to be immune?

It may depend on which brand that you or your friend get given. Also, I couldnt tell you how soon you'd be immune (or if you'll be immune), ususally a titre is done after the third shot if you need it for work. If you fail to respond, you'll get put on a differnt brand for a booster or serires of boosters (horror story: took seven boosters between the two different brands in use in .ie before my titre was acceptably high :) )
