Just ordered afew fenn traps. Just wondering from people’s experience whats the best way to construct the tunnel
From reading a few forums it would seem that one should build a timber tunnel (out of marine ply) that is 2.5 feet long , wide enough for the trap to fit and high enough for the trap to “spring”
I’m sure there are lots of people here who have tinkered with these tunnels.......I would very much like to hear their feedback on what they have found and their advice

Your're description seems perfect, cover the wood with sods, moss etc. to make it look natural & inviting & put some twigs in front of tunnel to narrow it to make sure that it's only the intended quarry...rats, mink, grey squirrel etc. that investigates.......not song birds etc.

I stopped using these many years ago as I was afraid that a stoat (protected) may venture in.

They are very popular with U.K. gamekeepers but then stoats & weasels (none here) are classed over there as vermin and there is no problem if one is caught.......in fact they hope to catch some in it!

    + 1

    Sounds good

And maybe cover the ends and cut a 3x3 hole for squirrels etc. to get through or else drill holes in the top by the ends to push bars or sticks down through and into the ground so they can't be pushed through.

You have to set them quite light if you don't want the mice to eat all your peanut butter or whatever you put on them!
