Inspired by the Twitter thread, this one is for all those things you intially thought were rubbish but then came around to.

    Tablet computers
I just didn't see the point. Not only were they trying to fill a niche that didn't exist, they were hugely overpriced and underpowered. I openly mocked early adopters.

I bought one last week. Now I 'only' spent 150-odd quid on it and it's a hell of a lot less restrictive than some on the market but it really is a nifty little gadget. It might well be a case of creating a need and then servicing it, but for once I'm happy to be exploited.

    The National
Dreary, repetitive tunes only made bearable by the odd decent guitar riff. And that voice... well, actually it's a damn good voice and the only thing repetitive is the movement of finger on touch-screen to select album: 'Boxer'.

Finish one draft of it first. It's hard to tell where it's going with just a few paragraphs.

Forums. Like Boards.ie . You'd wanna be a serious nerd to go on one of those - Have you ever seen the internet arguments people get into!?

Although actually, they're a pretty good resource of information, good for time wasting, and there's some funny stuff in there.

Going to the films, a load of men sitting around looking at films!
And rollercoasters, a load of men in a rollercoaster going up and down on a big metal track!
And sailing, a load of men in a big boat floating around in the sea!
And shouting, a load of men going around shouting! And so forth.

Apple products in general, but specifically The iphone.

I distinctly remember telling my brother the iphone would never catch on. People would get sick of trying to navigate mobile internet, of having to replace three things (ipod, camera, phone) at once in the case of loss or damage, that apple were only ever going to be niche, and not aimed at people who only want run of the mill, non tedious software with a chequered reputation who would more likely stick with simpler, reliable Japanese products.

    I admit it, I was wr*ng.

iTunes. Years ago I helped my sister who had just got an iPod put her music on it because she didn't have a computer so I used my laptop. Never had such a struggle before with my Creative mp3 players, and it changed a bunch of settings on my laptop. A while later, my other sister got an iPod so I did the same. Except it put all my first sisters songs on it. After hours of messing with it, finally got them on. So then my first sister wanted more albums on hers, but it deleted everything and put all my second sisters songs on it. So I had to redo all hers. Swore I'd never touch iTunes ever again and told them to go elsewhere.

Then last year, I got an iPhone, so had to install iTunes. It's not too bad though. Once you set it up properly in the beginning and don't allow it to do anything automatically, it's fine.

While a few years ago if the technology was there, I think there would have been an explosion in Tablet Computers. Its too little too late for them though IMO. Smartphones can already do 99% of what Tablets can do, so they'll live a a short life.

    Smartphones.

I never understood what the big deal was until I got one for Christmas. How did I live without being able to google random facts when on the move :D

    Bebo, when I was 14 :o

Insisted it was rubbish and pointless... then realised it wasn't... then two years later realised, no, it actually was.
