ACTUV - AntiSubmarineWarfare [ASW] Continuous Tracking Unmanned Vehicle

DARPA appears to be testing a number of designs and is now crowdsourcing tactics for this concept which is being made to overtly track submarines. In the simulator you track a Diesel sub with an average speed of 8kts, it uses evasion tactics, deploys decoys, the works. Doesn't try to just shoot you though. That, plus the simulator location off the coast of FL, and something in Wired I read this month leads me to believe the real world goal will be to track Cartel drug submarines (or Narco Subs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narco_submarine)

I've been playing around with it over the weekend. Have to say I hate the thought of tracking something like this by Pinging for it. The Gator configuration in game has been the most effective for me. There is that and about 4-5 other configurations for the ACTUV you can use to attempt to track the Sub [SSK]. The goal being to score as many points as possible, based on how often you used sonar, moved at high speed, and had the SSK in contact for on various sensors.
