The red one looks like a mini cooper on steroids.

Another product diluting the Range Rover brand!

Bad enough they launched the Discovery based Range Rover Sport, but to launch another cheaper Range Rover! Why???

No doubt it will sell in millions, but again it'll cheapen the Range Rover brand

If poor engineering and dodgy customers haven't killed the brand then I don't think the Evoque will either.

Looks rather claustrophobic to me, especially in the back.

Built on the Freelander production line at Halewood. Range Rover is more of a brand than a vehicle now, neither the Sport or the Evoque bear any relation to the full fat Range Rover component wise.

Most of the press reports have comment on the lack of rear headroom in the rear. Like the Freelander, will also be available in front wheel drive
A hybrid is likely to follow

Ah, the Dredd shed, built on the chassis of a 101 (vehicle behind in the photo), the best Land Rover ever built! :D

Most of them were converted back to GS 101s but there a few still in captivity.

I like the looks BUT, the Kia Sportage (which I have this week) isn't a million miles off the mark for looks!

Surprised at all the harsh opinions! :p

I genuinely like it. Yes its small and small in the back, but remember this car has a smaller footprint than the new Focus, so its not a big '4x4' its a small car.

I think it needs to be viewed as a stylish lifestyle choice - the type of person who may buy an Audi TT, BMW 3 Coupe, Mini, Fiat 500, Audi A3 etc might buy one.

Its a Range Rover that will do over 50mpg and in 4wd guise is still very credible offroad. Of course it is an entirely different proposition to the full fat RR, but so what? Its quite obvious that a V8 petrol RR alone is not a sustainable proposition and this opens up a huge new market for the RR brand. Its small, stylish, economical and has the premium feel as well as the badge and image.

The styling is subjective of course, personally I prefer the 5 door. I think it will do very well.

Think about it - if Porsche (the greatest sports car maker in history perhaps) can churn out diesel 4X4s based on Volkswagens, can Range Rover not credibly make a smaller Range Rover?!

Interesting to see all the comments though, keep it coming!

For LR's sake I hope they let someone else make it, Maybe Jaguar. It's just not LRish.

If this really is as small as a Focus, then the pricing which starts at about 30k sterling competing against x3, Q5 seems outlandish and over ambitious.
I think the interior looks dated and the exterior too pimped up drug dealer for these less overtly ostentatious times.
The quality would need to be better than previous Jaguar/Land Rover products.
"Top Gear" magazine recently gave back their long term Jag XJ as the car was so poor, the software went into meltdown and even the windscreen wipers fell off the car while on the motorway!
