SEO question - what does search engine see?

I'm trying to redo my site to be more SEO friendly, but is there any way of just seeing what a search engine sees?

I know you can do a search in google, click on "Cached" and then "Text only version". But is there any way of doing this without having to wait for google to index it?

I want to be able to check my changes as I am making them, and also my test site isn't indexed by google and I don't want it to be.

I've also found this site: http://www.smart-it-consulting.com/internet/google/googlebot-spoofer/index.htm

However it's not really doing what I want (the "text only" version)... e.g. it responds to user input - e.g. showing drop down menus when I move the mouse over - drop-down menus which I know google isn't regarding, judging by the "text only version" mentioned above. (This is one of the things I am trying to fix)

I use Lynxview for this although you will have to ftp a file to the website to prove that you are the owner.

    Thanks

unfortunately that has the same problem... Search engines (well Google anyway) ignore data where "display:none", so my drop-down menus aren't very SEO friendly.

Lynxview prints the data in my menus anyway, so I can't use it for testing...
    But thanks anyway
