MICRA wont start!!

    K11 micra 01 automatic 1.0 33k miles.

I own it almost a year and its been fine, but every time I get into it, when I turn the ignition on, she locks all the doors first herself and then unlocks all the doors, and then the I turn key to start. Wont start unless wait till doors lock/unlock first.

However, the battery earth connection was loose earlier and I tightened it and now she wont start at all. I get in, turn key to ignition on... control panel lights all come on, but then she doesnt lock unlock and ignition behaves as if battery is flat.. but It just cant be!!

I know nothing about cars so any help great fully appreciated.

Its not the key fob either as I always use the key itself to unlock/lock car, not the fob!!

(Also, Id been driving it for about an hour, when I then saw the second MG F in 2 days broken down on hard shoulder with steam coming out the back, as it was a female driver I stopped, but even after putting water into her car, her car wouldnt start, so we pushed it off the motorway on to the side road! I think I said something along the lines of " These MG F's I think are quite commonly known to over heat so I don't think they are very popular"- the girl took immediate offence, and replied " huh - this coming from a guy that drives a micra" and then laughed! I went on to say how reliable Micra's are and then, imagine my later shock when my Micra wouldnt start!!

Needless to say she didnt help me push my micra off the N3.. thanks ronan with the clio!!

Presume the gear shift is set to P?
Is there an alarm on the car?
    Is it a jap import?

Do you know if there is an immobiliser installed?
When you say the battery earth connection was loose, do you mean the black minus cable connection on the battery itself or a cable somewhere else?
Also there might not be enough juice in that battery to do more that light up the lights, try jump starting car.

No doubt she really wanted to listen to that after her car breaking down ;) Did you think putting water into it would make it A1 again

could be micro switch for boot lock they go faulty and run down the battery and sometimes activate the central locking a few times in quick succession common fault in micras has to brought to dealer to recode ecu after solenoid is fitted

None of the battery connections are cracked are they? Friend had similar problem and one of the connections was broken.

    Hi Everyone!

The negative earth was a bit loose, so when I tried to tighten the small nut, it wouldnt turn anymore, so figured a new clip!

There was a guy in blanch village called Derek, that had a motor factors but apparently he's gone now (I would have thought he done a great trade).

Theres a new one opened up beside Sam hire in Coolmine next to the tyre place at the end of the road, cant remember whats its called.

I bought a new negative clip anyway was 5.12euro, and getting home I took off the old one and the new one seems to have done the trick!

When I get into the car now though, the doors dont lock unlock like they used to before starting Micra, but new thing is that Central Locking only Unlocks all doors on front passenger door, and not on drivers door..

Someone said solonoid is the problem there, but figure, now that im mobile again... maybe Ill wait a while before I touch anything! Scared to break it!

The girls MG F is still sitting on the side road, almost 3 days later.
A pal of mine said no garage will touch an MG F, are they really that bad?

    Cheers for all the comments!

Hey, we put water into it twice but when she started it, it sounded like a tractor and when I was pushing it from behind, I think there were drops of oil on the ground.

Totally forgot to say, when I was pushing the car off the N3 solely before that guy random guy ronan stopped to help me, some guy in a 08 galways reg 3 series coupe stopped, and shouted out the window " turn on your hazzard lights " and then drove off,

I never got to tell him, that there was no power in the car and lights wouldnt work...!! Im not impressed Galway, so Im heading down there this to find him! ;P

Sounded the same. Gave intermittent problems.

Actually it was Sean behind Blanch Church who spotted it.

Touch as in repair a HG? It's a good few hours of easy work for a mechanic who has an idea what he doing. If a garage wouldn't take on a HGT job on an MGF they are either very very busy or very very unsure of their abilities. I'd say your pal as no clue, if he did he'd have sorted your Micra for you.
