Hi all, just a quick question regarding a possible car purchase. I checked out Motor Tax online about and the car comes up as the following:

    Change of Vehicle Ownership:

Transferred to an individual on: 01/01/2011

    Notified on: 04/02/2011

    Vehicle Registration Certificate:

Most recent vehicle registration certificate registered on: 09/02/2011

Does the fact that its changed hands since the beginning of the year mean that its a possible lemon or that its being sold by a dealer and not private. Any advice appreciated

    it could be a lemon
it could be someone who sells a few cars privately and has no option but to register them as there own.

If it was a proper dealer, there would not be a reg cert issued into the dealers name.

Unless its a very cheap run around, get a motorcheck report on it. This will show if it has had multiple owners in a short time & any other issues such as mileage contradictions, stolen, write off, taxi etc

if a proper dealer bought it the car goes into his garage code so no owners are recorded on the vlc.
it might just be a chap who buys and sells a few cars, the amount of owners on a car dont mean much anymore once the car is a straight one.anyway just ask him if he does

people used to switch owners on cars that were going to be repo'd to try and hide them from the repo man
do a cartell its much better.

We could guess all day. Ask the seller, see how you feel about their response.:)

Thanks for the opinions guys. The cars a 2006 Focus 1.6 diesel. Might give the guy a call and sound him out. Price seemed OK compared to similar cars I've seen. Included link below if anyone fancies a look. Has been on Donedeal a while and pic looks like it was taken in or near a garage of some sort (to me anyway)

Could have had it for ages, tax may have been out the end of January or December, may have done the change of ownership so he could tax it.
