Only has to be done with sheep you keep for breeding yourself. Tag before 9 months old with the e tags and sheep for sale with normal yellow tags. If kept for breeding after, e tags can be used after ordering a matching e tag

Thats my understanding of it but damned if i know for sure.

I'd say only one person knows for sure and they are always on holidays:mad:

    Hello,

Want to sell a few lambs next week.
So If I tag em with those yellow tags, the ones with the new identifier number (not the old flock / herd number) ?

    Thanks.

your guess is as good as mine , i rang the dvo as we still have 120 of the white tags and was told that I cannot use them , I queried why and why we hadn't recd the new dispatch documents which we were supposed we have last January and met with silence , put on hold for 5 minutes and told to ring Kildare Street.

rang the factory agent and he told me he didn't care if the lambs had cherry pink tags as long as we brought them in

Yeah - I have a good few of the old tags as well, I think that the only way to use them now is selling 'old' sheep (born before May 2010 as far as I know, but I wouldnt be 100% of that)

New tags. New documents. New register. Probably new rules too. And nobody has a clue what is going on. But we are liable to to penalised even if we break rules we dont even know exist.

New faces in kildare street. Same old s***
