probably moving up north to work/live soon so just wondering about my Seat Leon '05 TFSI is it worth bringing it up there, registering it etc?

I brought the car from Spain originally and you have to have it here in your name a year before selling it.Is there a similar rule for the north?

Thought I might get a better price selling it up there maybe

    Cheers for the help

Cars are usually 25-30% cheaper in the UK (pre VRT) so no point in bringing it up, better to sell it here private before you go.

If it is LHD then best to bring it with you as it will be difficult enough to shift down here.

Cars are virtually the same price here when you exclude VRT. Its the VRT that makes them more expensive. Though the difference is quite small these days on most low c02 cars.

Examples - exchange rate of €1.15

Toyota Verso Base model £10730 uk, (€12340). Price here is €12680 + VRT

Toyota Auris base model £15225 uk (€17510). Price here €16660 + VRT

Visitors to the UK can usually use a vehicle displaying foreign numberplates for six months provided all motoring taxes are paid in the originating country. This can consist of one single or several shorter visits in any 12 month period.
You can just bring your car while you decide what to do.

That's very discussive if they can enforce it...

Irish motor tax is an Irish revenue thing, and UK police forces, UK revenue, UK customs, etc. has nothing to it.
Obviously valid insurance and NCT has to be in place.

Thanks for the info so far guys.

It is a RHD so no hassle selling it that way.
The main concern is if I reg it up north,do i need to wait x amount of time before I can sell it. Havent seen anything on the DVLA website about it.(Ive had to wait a year in the republic before being able to re sell.

I do like the car but looking to get rid either way to economise etc etc

It's your car so you can sell it.
In ROI your also were able to sell it earlier, but then you would have to pay VRT.

Correct,i ment being able to sell without any VRT bull but that a whole other Thread.

Anyone know about how it works in UK/North? do i have to have the car in my possesion for x time before selling to avoid VRT etc?
