Tegral Bretona Natural Slate Issues Faults Flaws

    Hi Folks

My Dad bought Tegral Bretona Natural Slates back in 1995. He was told by the salesman that the slate was guaranteed for 50 years. After 8 years some of the slates became discolured with a white chalky look to them.

At this point a Tegral rep came to look at them and after inspection paid to have the some of the faded ones replaced.

Then a few years laters we noticed signs of Iron oxide and pin holes in nearly all of the slates. Many have become so brittle that pieces fall off them.

We've had some roofers look at the roof and all say that the slates must be replaced.

We've contacted Tegral again but we dont seem to be getting anywhere with them.

Has anyone else on here used Tegral Bretona slates and had any similar experiences with the Iron Oxide fault or brittleness?

Does anyone have an old brochure stating the warranty offered on these slates when sold in the early 1990s?

Any info or help would be much appreciated. As you can imagine the cost of repair is looking very high and my poor old Dad feels well cheated.
