They all stock much the same stuff unless you go to a specialist valet/detailer supplier so for normal stuff I'd say Halfords but only when they have their 3 for 2 deals on. Local factors otherwise if the price is ok, they might well give you a euro or two off the RRP :)

whats a detailer? heard that term over in America alot but not quite sure what it is, do they fix all the small body scratches or what?

got alot of my mine (mainly autoglym) in halfords but also see B&Q now have a limited range of autoglym products at a better price, they dont have near as good a range of products as halfords though.

they also have some other care care products but not sure how the price of them compare

    i also got some on-line from amazon.co.uk

I find eBay to be the most useful, especially for products that aren't your usual mass produced stuff. Brands like Dodo Juice etc. really good specialised stuff but can't be bought in shops.

    €719 for a 200ml of wax??? Crazy.

That said, I'd love a tub.

I'd love to detail my car, it's just too feckin expensive.

It looks like Autoglym and Turtle Wax will have to do for the forseeable future.:(

    Claybar
    Cleaner polish
    Wax
    Clean the glass
Clean the wheels and spruce up the tyres

Doesnt cost much more than you would spend on Rubbish polishes.

halfords 3 for 2 is a good offer.

i'm very fortunate that my local motor factors (a branch of AD) stock Auto Glym and Meguiars so i rarely need to buy in halfords or online, specially as i get trade discount in the local factors :)

as an example at the moment in my local, a 1 liter bottle of Auto Glym SRP costs 15 euro and some odd pence, which is almost exactly what Halfords want for the 500ml bottle, and Halfords want nearly 21.50 for the same 1 liter bottle!

i'm sure halfords buy in larger bulk than AD too and that AD aren't giving away the SRP ar a loss, so Halfords mark up on a bottle of SRP must be epic. no wonder the can offer those 3 for 2 deals :pac:

i havn't double checked any other products, but it would be interesting to see.

anyway, in answer to the OP, i voted local motor factors :)

My local is pretty useless for products so Halfords is it most of the time. Thankfully I know 2 guys who are very car smart who will give me good advice and I have a trade discount card (My brothers but I use it) that gives me like 10% (Could 5%) percent off marked price.

My local AD stock AutoGlym and they get me in Turtle Wax stuff in bulk. They can't seem to get any Meguiar's stuff at all  They used be able to before they were taken over by AD.

Good thing there is another factors here that deal with Strongline who are somewhat agents for Meguiar's in the republic.

A little off topic but i dont wanna start a new thread. I recently bought a new car(well new to me) and the paint work looks a little old. Just wondering could anybody give me tips on restoring this a little. Which products should i use? I am gonna go down the garage and give it a good wash this morning but after that i wouldnt know what to be doing. There seems to be old hand prints on the paint as if someone put their dirty hands on it and didnt wash it for months afterwards.

    Any pics?

Best thing to do would be to give it a polish and a wax. A polish with some mild abrasives would shift oxidised paint/light marks and would freshen the paint and then wax would add a nice glossy seal to it. Does the paint feel rough if you run your hand along it (kind of a sandy feel)? If so a clay bar might be useful.

I was in the exact same position as you about a week ago and ordered some:

    Clay Bar

    polish

And then a wax of you choice.

Set yourself a few hours and away you go.

    Hope this helps.
