I want to try and get freeview from Enniskillen for my parents. There house is five miles east of Tubbercurry on the Mayo/Sligo Border. Some of my neighbours recieve analogue from Enniskillen. The aerial I was thinking about is a Televes DAT45HD High Gain CB UHF Digital TV Aerial. I have a Saorview set top box that I think will also work with freeview, for now anyway.. It does not have a T2 tuner which I dont think will matter as Freeview HD is not operational yet. I could be wrong though. Any advice would be great.

You may have to wait for the Brougher power increase due in 2012, but if you gotta go now a variable gain amplifier may be a wise investment because if it works on full/high now it will have to be turned down next year.

    Hi Lonewolf,

Did you get your parents sorted with Freeview HD? , I'm looking into this myself for my parents also in Tubbercurry. They currently get the analogue channels through the tv reflector crowd.

I'm a little bit confused at what to set top box to get, so would love recommendation .

Get a combo box moyet. Ferguson Combo 120. €85. Big thread on it below. The days of deflectors are numbered. The combo box will give you plenty of the uk/ni and Irish channels on one box, one channel list, no bills.

    Hi STB,

For the Ferguson Combo 120 do you need a satellite for the UK channels or will the Freeview UK channels work through the aerial if they are available over the air?

    Thanks in advance.

Kind of defeats the purpose of the combo if you use it for terrestrial only.

Anyway, the 'deflectors' don't broadcast Freeview & they'll be gone by the end of 2012.

If you needed a deflector system up to now, it is unlikely that the freeview signal will work either.

Yes you will need a satellite dish for the Uk stations end (€30). And an existing aerial for the Saorview end.

If you have been dependant on a deflector system now for the NI stations then it is time to move on and use the combination of sat for Uk stations and Saorview via aerial. The box mixes both in one channel list. It is the simplest way of replacing you current dependancies.
