As per the thread title, just wondering what % people have spent on their venue?

We have a budget of 15k and are thinking in the region of 120 guests.

The problem is a) the venue has to be booked so far in advance b) if i do up a mock budget with band costs, flowers etc etc im sure i ll miss a god few hidden costs.

So asking other boardsies what they spent to get a grip on it.

We ve been quoted anything from 35e pp to 120 pp.

We were thinking around 60pp, so 7,200e or nearly 50% of budget. too much?

Also would any one care to gather on the number of bottles of wine required for that level of guests.

    Cheers

Do you need a band? We had our dj play for the night, think he charged 4oo/450. Our venue cost around 40% of our budget.

Our venue was about 30% of our budget... and worth every single penny. For me, the venue and the band were the most important things cos it's those that create the atmosphere.

for 220 people, the venue was 35% of our budget but we haggled v.hard on everything from free bar extension to corkage, brought in our own wine.
Important to invest in good food, but >60pp would be a little high IMO.
    Best of luck!

it is all about what means most to you - if food is important then don't scrimp on it.

    Food
    Wine/Drinks
    Cars
Clothes - bride, groom, bridesmaids etc
Accomodation - couple should be free, but parents/bridal party often paid for
    Decoration - flowers, stationery
    Rings
    Entertainment
    Ceremony
    Honeymoon
    Photographer

The biggest thing by far is the reception - between food, drinks and accomodation (depending on what deal you get) you have to be thinking between 40-50% of overall costs.

The honeymoon/entertainment/photographer are next but there's loads of scope on each of those.

Clothing is also not cheap - but again depends on the bride particularly (avg cost = 2k but starts with high street dress at €300).
