Tips on getting Assistant Psychologist job

    Hey guys,

I'm almost finished a psychology degree and want to get a position as an Assistant Psychologist in the UK. These are obviously extremely competitive jobs and I'm wondering if any of you have any tips on how to improve my chances. I'm on track for a minimum of a high 2.1 degree, so that's not a concern. I have been doing work experience 1 day a week since September with a Clinical Psychologist - administering and scoring psychometric tests, report writing, etc. I don't want to write my entire CV out here but if anyone can give me any advice, I'd be really grateful :).

Oh, I'm currently applying through the NHS and am checking trovit.co.uk and the jobseekers websites and applying for anything that comes up. I just want to make my application stand out more.

I don't know, tbh. I suppose if it came to an interview they could ask if any particularly psychologists or theories have influenced you. Do you've any other work experience you can draw on, apart from the research/administering tests/write up type stuff?

Good luck with your AP post hunt.

    Interesting answer here.

Isn't there a book on this that came out a few years ago?

Although it's very informative, it's also incredibly depressing. I'm almost finished my masters although it looks like I'm still nowhere near the level needed to get onto one of these courses. Yikes.

Not that I expected it upon graduation but, !
