Just did the Connemarathon today and have to say that the cadets running in formation were an impressive site. They were a fit looking bunch of lads and a credit to the Defence Forces. Did a good time too.

Pity, they couldve done something better with their lives than join the Irish Army, theyll never be used for anything better than shovelling the snow in December

Answering the distress call of the Good People of Ireland to remove a hazardous obstacle from the Publics path so the countries economic & social lifeblood may flow freely on a run up to the most critical period of commerce in the calendar year, whilst maintaining an air of dignity and being courteous to the public for a modest wage.

    Sounds noble enough to me.

    Besides...

    Cadets become officers

Everyone knows officers cant use shovels

theyre only there to oversea those of us qualified on the military shovel handling course

plus, it gives them blisters ;)

more info on the Connemarathon please!
