Hi all, myself and the OH are considering moving to Beaumont and while I drive, he takes a bus to work.

He currently works in a few different places for the same business, Walkinstown, Lucan, Heuston South Quarter and (very rarely) Howth.

I know he is going to have to take a bus to city centre and then a bus on.

My question, does anyone know of any buses that go to City Centre very early?

We currently live in Rathgar and he usually gets the 5.30 bus into town and then a bus on to be in work for 8am. The next bus here is 6.20am and that usually makes him a bit late.

    Thanks.

monife your o.h. has a number of choices depending of which part of beaumont your moving to.
16/16a/33/41's if around the shantalla area. if it's the beaumont road area then the 20b's. theres actually a good bus service in that area.

None of those routes have early departures (which is what the OP specifically asked), except the 33.

Your early morning options are both on the adjoining QBCs. On the Swords Road there is the 0450 33 from Balbriggan (probably an hour appx to get to the M50 flyover) while on the Malahide Road there is a 27 at 0510 and a 42b at 0550 from their respective termini.

First buses from Beaumont are well after 6 am; first departure of the 16 from Santry is at 0630 and the first 16A leaves the Airport at 0745. First 20B departs Ardlea Road at 0615 and operates via the hospital. Not clear if there are going to be any earlier buses when the 14 takes over the 20B service though. That first 33 leaves Balbriggan at 0450 and runs via Donabate...

If you're considering Beaumont, it might be worth looking at the areas closer to Artane, the areas to the east of Beaumont Hospital. It seems the necessity for a 530 bus is somewhat dubious, given he doesn't have to be in work till 8pm. A bus departing about 630 would do.

In terms of the locations, being close to the Malahide Road would leave your other half with a couple of good connections. In the coming months the 27 will be extended to Tallaght via Walkinstown Roundabout. Also the 79 will run via Beaumont Hospital to Park West via Heuston South Quarter.

Also having a bus to Heuston allows for an easy connection to a further bus to Lucan. Also being around Artane means a short bus connection to Fairview for a 31 to Howth. Seems like the best bet.

Thanks for your very detailed reply :)

He starts work at 8, but he likes to get there a bit before to get changed into work clothes and that.

And sometimes he has to wait a bit for the 2nd bus (1st bus Rathgar to City Centre and then a bus from there onto wherever he is working that week).

    Thanks again.
