    Lads

I've a 5week old heifer calf that I had to bring to the vet today. Calf was passing black coloured scour with traces of blood in it.

Vet diagnosed it as coccidious, so powders for the next 4 days. Calf is very lively though, Thank God.

My question is to try and prevent further calves getting it, I want to use a preventative drench or similiar

    Can anyone recommend?

vecoxan ... we give 20ml at around 7-10 days old for average friesian calves- heavier calves get more , we repeat a week or so later and some might get a third go of it

Thanks Whelan1. I knew you'd have the answer;)

Also would there be less chance of calves getting it if they were outdoors? I reckon twas picked up in the shed/creep.

    Thanks

have posted on this before ... clean shed are a must .. get them out asap... i clean out and power wash and disenfect with oocide regularly... better off outside no build up of bugs... if you see calves with dirty tails thats the first sign
