    Hi all,

We'd love to hear what feedback you have to give about the Fashion and Appearance forum. Stuff you like, stuff you don't like, anything that would make your experience better.

There are some posts over the last few days in the Chatwalk, so feel free to bring up those issues here. Personally, I like the idea of "Topic of the Fortnight", a month being too long. Along the lines of say, shoes, dream buys, favourite models, the capsule wardrobe, workwear, skincare etc.

I have a few ideas myself about how I would like to see the forum organised so will input along the way.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Firstly, thanks to the mods for all the modding they do:)

No real issues with the forum but maybe it's time to unsticky the christmas jumper thread?!:p

On a similar note, while I don't think we should have loads of sticky's clogging up the 1st page, I think a fake tan sticky would be useful. There is always so many threads on it, I think it would be good for it to have it's own sticky.

Also could we make the latest cosmetics thread a sticky? And keep the current latest purchases thread exclusively to clothes/shoes/accessories?

These are just suggestions, I know everyone won't agree with them:)

I like the idea of the 'Topic of the Fortnight' it will get a discussion going but be still be focused and it will be a good way to interact with other users and get to know them, especially for new users as the off-topic thread can be hard to engage in as it's just about anything. (This applies to off-topic threads in any forums not just this one:))

    That's it really, I think:D

Fashion is a form of social control , the seasons fashions are always dictated from the top down .
My proposal for the forum is to have a section where individuals can create their own fashions , with their own ideas , and post pictures and drawings of what they want to wear themselves , free from the fashion industry control mechanisms of the reptile power elite .

I'd love a Cosmetics Bargains sticky. Example "At the moment in Boots Revlon products 3 for the price of 2" etc. Always thought that would be great on this forum.

Just a thought on forum structure. Would putting all threads about beauty products and services into it's own sub fourm be a good idea? Main forum for clothing threads, sub forum for appearance threads - a skin and hair sub-forum if you will.

I think f&a functions excellently it is definitely one of the best forums on boards, There is always helpful and constructive advice without trolling (Thanks to the mods) The only aspect I would try to Improve is discussion, I also like the idea of topic of the week or something similar. These are some suggestions I posted in the chatwalk. :)

Designers and collections: Review or comment on runway collections, Models.

History of style: Looking back on trends. fashions of a different era with pictures, discussions and ways to emulate these looks today.

Trend Spotting: Discussion/Spotting of trends. I have noticed a lot of threads for e.g. Zips on dresses where people discuss trends they like/dislike.

Behind the lens: Magazines, Ad campaigns, Stylists, Photographers.

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes: A thread about shoes, trends, Ones you would love, Finding a high street copy of a designer shoe.

Shop till you drop: Basically from vintage steals to online to deals to little shops that have wonderful pieces, Post all your shopping tips in here.

Skin, Body and hair care: Review of products, places and general discussion.

Star style, Discuss celebrity looks, Ask on how to recreate a look or have a dedicated thread to a particular style icon.

Menswear: There is no shortage of men asking for places to shop etc on f&a perhaps a thread with tips, ideas and styles would be good.

What do I wear: I already started a thread on this but it got buried, Basically you could post an item you bought and ask for advice on what to wear it with. Over time it would build up and provide helpful ideas.

The five piece wardrobe: Each posters posts their essential five items for the coming season, this would change season to season. This could be done similarly as 'The perfect capsule wardrobe'

A sticky for bleaching hair or going blonde would be good because those threads come up aaaalllllll the time.

^^ And a thread on dying your hair red possibly.

What ever happened to the "in the well" threads?

That sounds like a great idea, Too many stickies wont work so a sub forum would be a good way of incorporating more topics and discussion.

Maybe a thread showing special offers on beauty/waxing treatments across Dublin city/county. I find that stuff like that in a thread never takes off and I always find it when the thread is off the first page/closed!

Great thread! I'm getting excited by Sibylla's options! :D

I agree with OldGoat - it's what I was thinking last night. A subforum for Hair, and a subforum for makeup/skincare - I wouldn't want them in the same subforum personally.

I also don't like more than 5 or 6 stickies tbh, they take over too much real estate.

    Great feedback guys, thanks!

Here's a couple of my ideas, stemmed from the suggestions:

    - Definitely think a Beauty subforum is an idea
    - Instead of a blonde/red/tan/nails sticky, how about creating singular mega threads, and then just linking them in one sticky. Like a FAQ thread/list of important threads, check here to see if your question has been answered
    - Change the Promotional Codes thread to include bargains and deals, details on sales etc. The beauty subforum could have its own too

I like these ideas - especially the not so expensive versions of designer stuff! Like Minted versus Skinted in the Sunday Times magazine :D

Overall I think it's a great forum and I've had really helpful advice - it amazes me the fab ideas people have come up with. It's not a clique-y forum at all, I find.

Instead of a thread like In The Well, how about a dress me thread? People could describe themselves, i.e. colouring, size, height, body shape etc., and others could then recommend outfits or certain items of clothing. Kind of like a virtual make over thread. Could give people a lot of extra ideas on how to dress in what suits them and things like that.

    Just to update this:

You'll notice a lot of Stickies gone. This is to tidy the forum, and also per a site-wide recommendation that three stickies is enough. Important threads will now be placed here! I will update it as we go along.

The Charter has been updated to mention this thread, so please take heed of it.
