    Hi

Anyone know what the lessons are like in Spawell?

    Three people give lessons there:
    • Shane Deegan
    • David Lavelle
    • Steve Moore

Do you know are any of these good for lessons for a complete beginner?

I am in the South Dublin area

    Thanks

    Brian

There was a lady there who gave lessons to me a few years ago (sorry I can't remember her name) but she was superb.

    Was that Hazel Kavenagh?
Both herself and Shane Deegan were/are members of Grange in Rathfarnham.
Have heard very good things about Hazel.

I got lessons up there a good few years ago from a lady called Jane Leavy - found her pretty good although cant say whether she's still up there or not

I think it was Hazel alright. She had brown, straight-ish hair. I found her excellent.

Had a lesson from Dave Lavelle, found him very good - sorted out my grip and stance and cured a slice that had developed in my swing. They're pretty cheap as well at 30 euro per session.

He'd be my pick from the Spawell pros too.

    +1 for David Lavelle.
    Doesn't overcomplicate the lesson.

A fair few pros at that level have a vibe off them, along the lines of i wish i was on tour and not teaching you hackers... but DL seems to genuinely get a buzz out of teaching.

Any way of getting a free lesson from him?

Damul - perhaps i could come with you to your lesson and stand at the back of the bay and watch?

Agree re David Lavelle - had a lesson from him and he's very practical - need to go back though as I've gone back to old habits!

    thanks guys

I actually booked a lesson in Spawell but forgot to ask for David Lavelle and I got Shane Deegan

I might try and change it to David Lavelle because of all the positive comments here but that may be cheeky, maybe Ill just go for one with Shane and see what he is like.

Was having difficulty with the driver for the past few weeks. At the driving range last night I had about 5 balls left after hitting the previous lot all over the place. Got thinking of those lessons with Hazel and broke it down. 1 change she had me working on I had let slip. Took a few practice swings and nailled the last 5 balls. Thankyou Hazel (wherever you are!).

I know its a bit late OP but i got my first 4 lessons with Dave Lavelle again i found him to be very practical and learned the basics of him easy enough for a reasonable price
