A little bit disillusioned with the youth of today. Most of them seem to be able (and willing) to speak Gaeilge when it suits them.I would have thought that IT being rammed down their throats would cause them to despise the "language".Apparently not.Discuss...or don't.I don really care..jersey shore is on tv now...

My impression of the Irish language is seriously effected by the sheer amound of c*nts that have made their way into the neat little circle:
    1. Fenians that are only motivated to speak irish as a "f**k you" to the British oppressors
    2. Rich kids that think the Gaelteacht is the dogs b*llocks.
    3. Irish teachers (pass in my case) with a persecution complex
    4. iRadio and their stupidly lazy modern hybrid of english and irish mid sentence during a broadcast, talking about all the cool things like Ke$ha agus Facebook
    5. People that were pro-actively thought Irish at home, but patronise you when you cant keep up a conversation.
    6. People from rural Kerry (see all of the above)

stupid pidgin languge that it is?!
    Stupid....a word originating from Latin.
Pidgin....a makey uppy word from the mid 19th century.
Language....a word also originating from Latin.

Why can't you write in nice clear Anglo-Saxon without all these bastardisations of the pure language.

For anyone who was "thought" Irish at home, you have to wonder why they weren't taught English as well

Just how many threads do we need on this gawdforsaken subject to keep recycling so the same tired arguments cliches and trolling. What is it with AH having to have least three threads per week about Immigration Muslims Nationalism Religion Gaelic ?

the thing thats really telling is that after all that money and effort people end up resenting it because its forced on them. thats what the gael mafia dont realise.

the way it been promoted and pushed on people is the problem, not the language.

I went to Dingle with some friends a couple of years ago and couldn't find anyone in the various shops/cafes we visited who spoke Irish. Most of the shopkeepers/staff weren't Irish, in fact!

Why don't you call the cops and report the person with a gun to your head forcing you to read all these threads you don't like.
