My iPad is in headphone mode however, there are no headphones plugged in to the device. This happened a couple of days ago, I was in the airport watching a movie. Saw most of it and when I got home wanted to watch the end but didn't need the headphones. When I began to watch it, for about 3 minutes there was sound then it stopped. I moved the mute button on the side to see if that would resove it and thats when i noticed the word headphone over the sound picture when I took it off mute. Its only 7 months old. I bought it off a guy on adverts so don't have a receipt. Anyone else have this issue and if you did how did you resolve it??

i had this with an iphone 4,phone thought that there was headphones plugged in all the time which there wasnt.contact apple, they'll replace it for you...well they did with my phone that was less than a year old.
    ring them tomorrow.

or in the meantime, do a complete restore.this is what apple will tell you to do first anyhow id imagine.

Try jiggling the headdphone jack in and out a bit or else just blow in it, may be a bit of dust

    hope this helps

Do a restore and see do you get any joy. As above my iPhone 4 had a similar problem. Its under warranty if its less than a year old.

Blow into it and plug the headphones in and out a few times - that's what worked for my iphone.

had the exact same problem with an iphone 4, I searched on youtube and found a solution. Get a cottonbud, or a cocktail stick and a jcloth and spray a small bit of window cleaner on it (not soaking) and gently stick it in and out whilst twisting, depending on how dirty it is you will need to repeat this process several times before it starts working again

Thanks everyone, gonna get in touch with one of the recommended support companies from Apple on Monday (tried today but just got voicemail). Just wondering what will they do, will I get a replacement, will they fix my one or will I get a replacement refurb? Does anyone have experience of a faulty product and how apple deal with it? Thanks

ring the 1890 apple number, thats 24 hour i think and you most likely will get someone in the states on the other end,i always did.
im not sure what the deal with ipads is but if its underwarranty they will replace it with a complete refurb (new screen, housing & battery) well they did with my iphone.
they do a collect & return service with ups i think it is,courier calls, takes the device, apple have a look at it,if its under warranty they return a refurb to you.
tbh you wouldnt even know they items are refurbs,my replacement phone was immaculate.

Just in case anyone has this issue, I brought it to Mactivate, they couldn't fix it. I got a new one
