does anyone have nick names these days ? All my kids have friends like John, Laura, Isabelle ? I hardly remember anyones real name as most of my friends were only known by their nick names... even when I started work you were given a nick name..

Names like - Washers, Odd ball, Rubber Man, Scones, Butty, Blackie, Fair size, Chicken George, The Councillor, Radar, Joe 90, Knocker, Miley, Piggy, The Shah, ...These are just a few of the ones that I remeber but I wouldn't remember their real names ! The worlD is gone too PC...............

Ye definitely but not as much tbh. Most are just slight changes to their real names usually.

I've known a guy 5 years and only found out his real name a few months ago!

Your kids & their friends probably do have nicknames - but you'll never know....! I can remember my mother always calling friends by their proper names & we'd have to think who she was talking about.

My earliest memory of a nick name was when I was in
Primary school in the Junior years. A bunch of class mates used to climb a tree at Lunch time and one day it fell and for some un-remembered memory we decided to give ourselves nick names based on an animal. I dont remember it sticking but I do remember wanting to be called Cheetah and others
wanting to be called Cobra and Bear etc. (we were under the age of 8 at the time)

In secondary school around the time when the film Terminator 2 came out there were several students in school
that thought I walked and looked like the T-1000 (Robert Patrick) Bad terminator, I ended up getting the nick name T1.

Later on in school because I was in the FCA and liked all things army and guns, I got the Nick name "GI" and after loosing my virginity when I was 16 it was GI the love magnet that got printed on a T-Shirt in Art-class.

When I started a job in about 97 due to a particular turn of events and circumstances I was dubbed the Nick name "Bullets" which is what I chose for a Handle when surfing the web. For some reason in work there are lots of people that know me by reputation and nickname "bullets" rather than people who know me by my actual name.

Its weird when walking down the street or in a nightclub or social event when both people I know and people I barely or don't know greet me with "hey bullets"

I don't really remember many peoples nicknames in school,
Had a buddy nicknamed Horse which later became Ed
Had a buddy nicknamed Nipple (it started out as newboy and transmogrified into nip!)
Had a buddy nicknamed Foxy (Red Haired and crafty bloke)
