Anyone else find that in the last couple of years, your not allowed have a bad day in work anymore?! Had a pretty bad day at the office today, went for a couple of beers after work and had a bit of a vent. When done venting, I was told in a very sincere manner, that "I was lucky have a job" Arghhhhhh!!!!!!

Anyone else find this as annoying as I do? I studied long and hard enough to mean having a job has little to do with luck but a lot to do with hard work!!

Without discrediting the hard work you've obviously done, you can count yourself lucky to have a job too.

It's just the way people have gone these days. People have bitched about work since the beginning of time and I feel we're all entitled to rant after a hard days work. I think it's healthy tbh and most people will rant with you. The PC brigade however will not.

Having a yap like that with co-workers in a fit of frenzied agreement is one thing... were you moaning at an unemployed person?

Maybe you're crap at your job and they said it literally

A lot of people have studied just as hard as you and find there's no job for them here. Luck always plays some part, sorry.

However, I do understand your point that a person should be allowed to vent without seeming like an ingrate.

I hate that. I am not working now, was made redundant from my last 2 roles, but would never say that to anyone!!

Vent all you want OP and fcuk the lot of them! :D

Moan ahead, they're just jealous. Jobs are way over-rated anyway. Tried one once and hated it, too many rules and too little money. It's just not the way to go. You would need to be lobotomised not to moan about having to work.

I hear ya OP, I find it so annoying as well. I had this job long before the recession and when no one else wanted it.

That's the difference between going for a beer with acquaintances and going for a beer with friends, you were being judged.

    We'll need more detail.

Did you forget to put sugar in the boss's coffee?
Lose your investment company $5 trillion with a careless press of a button?

yeah hate this attitude too. i've been unemployed since i finished college, and i never thought anyone complaining about jobs should be grateful they have one. i mean if you've problems, it doesn't make it any easier to deal with by trying to convince yourself you're lucky you have one. what pisses me off is people that say oh could be worse, about other things. like if you have something to say, they'll say it could be worse, you could be a starving child in Africa and all that ****e. it doesn't make the problem any easier to deal with, all it is is trying to make you shut up.

What the fuck has political correctness got to do with anything the OP said? Do you even know what political correctness is?

Edit: Actually, were you just giving an example of an annoying comment?

It was just one of those weeks. Can't put my finger on anything in particular, just lots of seemingly insignificant events, adding up to a bad week.

Quit moaning SUN, you should count yourself lucky you don't have a job. There's people in Intel would kill to get the amount of sleep you do.

There's no real point in talking to some people about things like this.

They key to a happy life is finding the people who are actually supportive rather than bleating out whatever flavour of the month platitudes or admonishments seem to fit the bill.

Once you find a couple of people like that, you're set. You can pretty much just ignore the rest of humanity other than as a rescource.
