Was out for a wander on my mates land this evening. He has a lot of very pricey pedigree lambs now and asked me to help him with a fox problem as he lost two lambs the week before last. I was just out sussing the place out but brought the shotgun just in case. Just as we were heading back to the jeep charlie popped out about 30 yards to my right. He saw us straight away and legged it so I took a shot at him a bit quicker than I would have liked. Needless to say,I missed, cos I got a shock to see him so early in the evening(usually it's a lamp only job in this spot). The shot went over his back and after uttering a generous helping of expletives,we kept on walking. About 60+ yards from where I took the shot I found a magpie with a single small hole straight through the eye! By jaysus, there's some poke in those alphamax magnums i'm always raving on about! :)

Similar happened us the other night. We were calling in a field for about 20 min with no sight of anything. We decided to move on, both myself and my lamp man were crossing a wall on to the next field, both of us were astride the wall when 3 yards in front of us we spotted a fox. He ran straight away no chance to get a shot at him with the rifle

Nothing like making sure of your backstop, eh? Lucky it was a magpie and not one of your mate's pricey lambs.

Too right mate! One thing I'm lucky to be blessed with is cop-on,I wouldn't take a shot if I had any doubt..

if it was a rifle id be alot more concerned about the backstop. if you cant see something like a lamb within the range of a shotgun you have serious eyesight problems

    alphamax..lethal full stop
went out for rabbits 1 day and had half a belt of sipe 7s...but to my suprise there was 1 alphamax left in the belt from foxing the night before..didnt really bother noticing the different cartridges..even tho 1 was yellow and the other was red..so anyways i shot a rabbit at 20 yards..snap shot at a fella that was lying in some high grass...felt sorry for the ****er when i realised..still tasted nice tho :D
