I'd love to know if you actually gave up the drink after and if you feel your general happiness and attitude to life has changed since? i'm 27. I've been thinking about giving up the booze for some time now and i have finally decided today that this is it. I too get very depressed and down in myself after a night out. I binge. I cant stop drinking until im in a state which i know if i seen back on video i would be utterly mortified. I'm on my way to athlone in a while to buy myself a new bicycle and i'm going to take the advice of one of the other people that posted on this forum. I'm going to use this as my excuse not to meet up with the lads at weekends. Wish me look. I'm looking forward to a life without drink. And hopefully ill have alot more to show for it both financially and physically!

    Hi there,

The thread you were trying to bump was a couple of years old and posters that ask for advice are not required to give us updates - but the forum is a good source of advice and support so I've given you your own thread to get advice, support and also so anyone wishing to come forward can do so.

    All the very best,

    Ickle

    Hi
There's a non-drinkers group on boards. I'm not going to recommend it, it would drive you to drink, but it's a nice sentiment and it might be a good place to document your achievements, milestones etc.

I'm 29 and I had a horrible experience with drink during January. Nothing really happened, I just got myself into a state and had the horrors for 2 days so I decided to lay off it for a while.

Since then I probably drank 4 times and only two of those times could be considered binges. I have saved a fortune.. I use to live from week-to-week, moneywise, and that's purely from spending whatever I had left at the end of the week on a load of booze at the weekend.
