Another one bites the dust... :pac:

Well I was just made redundant for the first time. Worked in this particular job for about 18 months.

I was a little shocked and pretty much gave a handshake and left without asking any questions so I'll try here before calling them Monday morning

What am I entitled to regarding redundancy pay?
What should I receive from them e.g P45 etc?

I was actually planning on leaving the job and have an interview set for Tuesday so hopefully I wont be going near the SW office

Any other relavant info would be greatly appriciated

you are not entitled to any redundancy however you are entitled to your last pay check obviously, any holiday pay accrued and bank holiday pay for any bank holiday that occur in the next 13 weeks.

your p45 and all that should be given to you in a timely fashion in line with your pay structure ie if you were paid weekly or monthly etc.

fair play that you have an interview lined up hope it goes well

    Thanks,

I think the manager said they pay my weeks notice, so I'll get what I've worked this month with that week and whatever holidays I'm owed? Sorry for the questions just trying to plan finacially for the rest of the month

I had a feeling the company would be winding down soon but didn't think it would be this soon hence the interview on Tuesday, I was always told it was easier to get a job when ya already have one, wether that's true or not I haven't a clue

Am I right in thinking that they told you you were losing your job and that you were to finish that very day?

Id check your contract. They have to give some kind of notice if letting you go or failing that, pay you in lieu of notice, the usual notice period would be 2 weeks though your contract may say differently. You are also entitled to get paid for any holidays you have owed.A simple way to look at it would be if you have 20 days holidays a year then for every 3 months you are owed 5 days holidays. If you havnt taken any holidays this year then you would be owed your full compliment of pay to date.

Id also get a letter of redundancy from them too just in case the job interview doesnt go according to plan and you need to sign back on.

Yeah, its normal in the company to finish up straight away and they pay you the weeks notice but ask you not to attend, not sure why.

I'll call Monday and ask for P45 and confirmation letter. Really dont want to sign on. Hopefully the interview will go well and I'll be back to work in a couple of weeks :)

Sales, I worked in construction till 2 years ago, decided to change direction instead of waiting for it to pick up again. Why do you ask?

They have to give you your p45,so you can start your new job and also if you dont or cant get work so you can claim job seeker allowances, best of luck

I would hate to be earning money and then having it suddenly taken away. Bahaha.. I am 20, never had a job before and now I am working almost full time and taking home €300 a week.

    Good times!
