Wood Chipping

During the construction of our house we removed a number of trees for the gateway, I chipped these and put them into bulk bags in 08.
I went to the bags the other evening to topup the bark under the laurel hedging and it is all mould . Can this still be used or will it kill/attack/stunt the laurels ??
    Thanks for any help.

Your safe enough. All wood based mulches will exhibit this type of (white?) mould as part of the natural decomposition process. It's a good idea to add a little nitrogen to your soil before you mulch though as the decomposition process in the mulch will rob Nitrogen from the soil before releasing it again at the final breakdown stages. This can take years depending on the thickness of the mulch you put down.
