    Hi all,

I'm a PhD student, so I don't get paid a huge amount but I'm interested in setting up a savings account. To be honest I don't know anything about banking so I don't know where to put my money.

I'm thinking of putting away somewhere between 200 and 300 euro per month. The most important thing is that this money is readily available to me whenever I need it.

I don't really know what other important factors to think about but any advice is greatly appreciated!

Credit unions now have atms. I think this is best and good return. Also if you ever need a loan then you can get up to x8 your balance and a student rate.

Do you have a bank account? Which savings accounts have you noticed around so far?

I have a current account with BOI

To be honest I haven't got any further than the Rabodirect/Ulster Bank website front pages!

I don't know where to begin really
