I planned to start studying for the J.C on monday, as in 5 days ago. I made a timeplan and everything. I still havent opened a book spare Science and Maths, my 2 best subjects :/

I am a fairly good student, i got As 5Bs and a C in the mocks, the C being in irish, which I want a B for in June.

But i Have NO motivation whatsoever to open a book and study, even though i want 10As and a B in irish in June. I procrastinate severly and keep putting it off and i have now resigned myself to promising myself to start on Monday next.

Does anyone have any tips on how to motivate myself to study? I have no problem studying the subjects i find 'fun', like science, maths and spanish, but i avoid irish like the plague, though i have purchased mindmaps from juniorcertmindmaps.com for irish, and im hoping if i just focus on learning them it will reduce my 'fear' a bit.

But i just cant find the drive to open a book and work :/
ive tryed all the usual, i.e in my spare room, no tv, no music, no laptop, no phone, but i still end up wasting time, one day i even just sat there on an office chair spinning around for 30 minutes when i should have been revising :(
    I hate myself sometimes lol

But the subjects i got Bs in i want to get As in, like English, Maths, Religion, CSPE (not worried, my a.p rocks lol), and Spanish

So to conclude this essay (sorry..) does anyone have any tips on how to:
    1) Motivate myself to study
    2) How to study English, Maths, Religion and Spanish to maximise my grade?

    Any help is appreciated :)
(i should be studying right now...ah well)

im the very same... its so hard to find the motivation to study

Just do it, seriously. When you get home just sit down and take a book out of your bag and study. Don't just say you'll do it later, or the next day. To straight away and get it done with. Once you get into it, it's not that hard to keep going.

Now, if only I could follow my own advice. I don't even do my homework, apart from essential homework. I just play Black Ops and go out instead. At least I'm smart enough anyway.

    *sigh*

You should probably smack yourself in the face with a fish and actually do it. There's no point in saying "I'll do it tomorrow", if it didn't work yesterday. It's a decision you must independently make.

Yeah I'm the same. It's like I couldn't be bothered to do it... I get up at 7am, get the bus to school at 8am. School's over at 5am, takes about an hour to get home then on the bus, by the time I get home I'm exhausted. Half the time I can't even get the energy to open my bag to do my homework. Aaah weeell, I'll start studying eventually I suppose...

    Oh hey there Internet twin.

I'm the same, only did cramming for Christmas and mocks, gonna start at properly at Easter though, I hope. Make a plan and stick to it is all I have to say, it worked for my cramming sessions so I'm hoping it will now. Although it is unbelievably hard to be motivated, what does it really count for in the end?

No wonder you're exhausted with only an hours sleep a night.

    I can't find time to study :(

If you have eircom broadband you can try Studyhub. It really motivated me and is so much better than taking out the book and ending up letting your mind wander every night. I'd highly recommend it if you have E.B. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

It's Easter, there are no more excuses. :( I got lots of homework, so hopefully that might make me work.

Exactly the same for me! 3 papers and all theorems to learn in maths, an exam for business (shorts, 4 from P1 and 4 from P2), drama and reading comp in english (nice teacher), 2 comps and sceal in Irish, some geography and that's it. Overall, if you spread it over the 2 weeks it won't be much. I'm not going to leave it till the last second this time! ;)

3 papers in maths? Sounds harsh. I only have to learn my theorems and constructions for maths...Which is fine, I suppose, seeing as I'm finding maths very easy these days and don't really need to study anyway. I have a fair amount of Irish, quite a lot of English, LOADS of French, a whole mock paper for science and a whole paper 1 for business, with every question needing to be done. It doesn't actually seem like a lot there, I'm planning on getting it out of the way at the start of next week and then getting into studying for the rest of it (well, with days off, no need to go totally mad). The time for 'LOL JC LOL, I'll study another time' has passed. :(

Glad to hear other people have escaped from the dangerous trap many student will face in the next 2 months!

I have maths P1 to do. We were suppose to be doing Q1,2 and 3 over the last few weeks but I never found time to do them, he wasn't forcing us to do them though, I'm going to do them as study though.

I have two English questions to do as well and a few Irish questions to do. I wasn't given any other homework but I intend to do a lot off studying.

I assume most schools get the 2 weeks off for Easter, as does mine, so it's awesome time for study. We get 18 days off which is equivelant to 9 weekends (I'm a pro at maths lol). 6 hours a day (in or around)... Sorted. I'm finding that learning science is way easier when just reading through the book, it seems so difficult in class!

Anyways, a good study method for those with exam papers from previous JC's, if you don't, look here:

    http://www.examinations.ie/index.php?l=en&mc=en&sc=ep&formAction=type

Now, study a certain section in your book, and then do some answers in the exam papers. For example, if you've just studied 5 biology chapters in Science, find the corresponding questions in exam papers and do them, as you'll remember stuff much easier. You'll also notice patterns with questions every year.

    Good luck!

Right, I'm off to study! :o

I have sooo much homework, all the science chemistry papers, learn all the verb tenses for irish, finish off my science coursework, some spanish homework, art support studies, and, because my history teacher is completely retarded, chapters 66-75 in my history book have to be read and all 68 questions answered, we havent covered any of this material in class and she told us shes not planning on doing it in class with us because she 'doesnt think its important' --__-- grrness
