So i have my nct tomorrow and i have a small question. I am in the middle of putting fog lights on my car. The lights arrived yesterday but the new switch and jumper lead wont be here until next week, of course in my excitment to see how the car looks i have fitted the new lights without anything being wired up. They look perfect but i haven't even put the bulb holders in them

Will this be an nct failure as they aren't working yet. I can take them off and stick back on the blanking plate but i'd like to see if this is a must do first

Mine passed before Christmas without working.
If you fail it would be a free visual retest anyway as they can check outside the centre without bringing it inside.

I think it will be a fail, if they are fitted they must work regardless of what stage of completion they are fitted. Best stick back the blanking plates, a pain but should be easy enough to do.

But does the test stipulate that front fogs lights are required? I dont think this is the case, so they could be seen as a type of blanking plate as they're non fuctioning.

There's a difference between fog lights and auxiliary lights and without pics or info on the car model etc it's difficult to give precise info.
I know the rear fog light must work if fitted but for fronts...

You'll find plenty of people here that have passed cars with non-functioning front fogs but I don't recall anyone getting a fail for it.
    Have a read here

Broken glass is a different story.

Thanks for the info biko, it's a mondeo so the lights are under the main cluster at the bottom of the front bumper. I think it should pass with them not connected
