River Internet Access

    Hi There,

    Is anyone else having problems with the internet in the river apartments lately?

    It's fine for a while, then it starts going really slow (like a min to load a web page), then the connection drops altogether, then comes back on for a little while, etc etc.

    It's really starting to annoy me at this stage!

    I'm on campus 4 years now and am used to the odd downtime, but at least when it was down it was down and when it was up it was fine, this intermittent thing is just a pain.

    And no, i have not spoken to anyone in the office about it as it's more of a nuisance than anything else. I am just interested to hear other river peoples experiences with it.

    That's been happening on and off in Village as well, though it's been ok for the past week or so.

    I'd that problem in River yesterday too.. I literally had to walk to Arts Block at like 9pm last night just to check my emails.. mad stuff! :pac:

    It was down from around 3pm yesterday until after 1pm today!

    Also, I notice that after the login screen, you are redirected to the nuim homepage. This annoys me when the login happens randomly, and instead of going back to the site you were on, it goes to the bloody homepage instead!

    It's only started doing that recently though.. I wonder why?

    I have no idea but it certainly wasn't thought through from an end user perspective.

    Fairly sure there's a network co-ordinator type guy for the River apartments who you can talk to. Ask in Reception

    Yea, I know him pretty well, I tend to try not to bother him unless it's really serious cas I know all the crap he has to deal with! People find out where he lives on campus and try to wake him up at night to fix the internet!

    I hear he loves when that happens :P

    Also, the network going down for just shy of 24 hours is probably more serious than a 10 or 20 minute hiccup most people call about :D
